About Arriba!

The name Arriba! derives from the Spanish word for above, on top of and up. Arriba! Speech and Communication is focused on building confidence and fostering young talent to reach the top their game. We cover public speaking, drama, poetry, reading aloud, storytelling, improvisation, mime, voice management, interviewing and more.

All students sit national grade examinations through Speech New Zealand from Grade One through to Diploma level.

 

Teacher Rebecca Reed is passionate about teaching and preparing confident, expressive speakers who can take control of their lives in any given speaking situation.

Rebecca Reed

Rebecca is an accomplished communications, public speaking, and public relations professional of 15 years, with experience teaching NZ Speech and Drama at primary and secondary school level. She also has three years’ experience working as a Broadcast Journalist in New Zealand and in the United Kingdom.

 

As the Director of PR consultancy, Arriba! PR, Rebecca brings a wealth of experience in communications. Her specialist skills of media training, public speaking, writing, strategic planning and media relations are a wonderful complement to her teaching in the classroom.

Rebecca holds a Bachelor of Communications in Broadcast Journalism from the NZ Broadcasting School, a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and is the recipient of two national journalism awards – the Qantas Media Award for Breaking News Story of the Year and Best Junior Broadcaster in 2005.

Rebecca also holds an Advanced Associate Diploma in Speech and Drama Teaching and is working towards completing her Licentiate Diploma in the Teaching of Speech and Drama. Rebecca is the itinerant Speech and Drama teacher at St Orans College, Lower Hutt.
